There is so much going on with AI. From ChatGPT with over a hundred billion parameters (that is a lot!) to more organizations adopting AI – it has doubled since 2017[i]. In our work developing and supporting operational AI systems, we have learned so much. Thad Scheer recently wrote a piece on Taking AI to the Next Level, going into challenges we have experienced with AI neural network architectures. Backpropagation is mentioned in that list as it is slow and unreliable.
